Hello, I'm Tim Thornton and I’m a certified clinical hypnotist and a Stop Smoking Hypnotherapist. I’ve been practising hypnotherapy for many years and for the last six in North Sydney. My clinical training was with The Australian Academy of Hypnosis, including personal training with Rick Collingwood, one of Australia's most accomplished hypnotists. I also qualified with Dr. Marco Paret, ISI-CNV, as a magnetista senior and trainer. Dr Paret is a global practitioner and teacher in NLP, magnetism and fascination.
Dear Tim, I want to say thank you. I’m so relieved to have kicked that habit. As you know I was a bit desperate and dubious whether hypnotherapy would work. I still don’t know how it works! But it works.

I am just writing to thank you again for this miracle in my life. My daughters and my husband cannot believe the change. I have more energy and I am spending time on the things that I enjoy. Seeing you and quitting smoking was the best thing I have done for myself in years!!!

The meaning of the word 'hypnosis' comes from the Greek word hypnos and means sleep. James Braid chose the term hypnosis, since he thought that a hypnotic state is very similar to the state of sleep. He realised later that it isn't a state of sleep, it's much more useful than sleep. It's a natural state where incredible healing and positive changes can occur. Hypnosis is a state between waking and sleep. In the hypnotic state you hear everything and perceive everything that happens around you. You hear the words of the hypnotist and this is how old unwanted patterns and thoughts are replaced with new goals, ideas and ways of thinking. The body is perfectly relaxed and the mind very focused and receptive. After the hypnotherapy your conscious mind can now utilise the new embedded ways of thinking, which is the how clients can change.
You naturally experience a micro-hypnotic states every day, but most people can't recall them. One example could be; your alarm clock goes off in the morning, you can hear sounds from the bathroom that your partner is making, but you are not interested in them. It is just so wonderful relaxing, your eyes are still closed. You're dozing and your thoughts are wandering aimlessly. In this state your senses are significantly more receptive than in the waking state. The critical faculty of your consciousness is greatly reduced and the responsiveness of your subconscious mind greatly increased. This mental state can be induced with hypnosis. During your hypnotherapy session I deepen the relaxation experience, so a direct connection can be made to your subconscious mind.
